I am a great fan of "Game Theory" for the simple reason that it beautifully explains why things are what they are, and provides insights on how to drive change - for example why the traffic in Singapore is so orderly and the traffic in Bangalore is so chaotic, or for that matter why teams may not work collaboratively in organizations. Driving change has two components, namely a) knowing why something is the way it is, and b) having the guts to do what it takes to change.
In this short article I will attempt to introduce game theory and show how it can help address the first component, namely (understanding why something is the way it is). I will use game theory to address the issue of "how leaders can influence culture" (sounds tough!).
If you find this helpful, go ahead and use it to understand other phenomena around you that you've always grappled with, but never completely understood.
